EUR 259,000 Seized, 18 Proceedings Registered in March by SPAK

Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has published this Thursday the balance of work for March 2023, revealing that it has seized 8 real estates and 2 bank accounts worth about 259,000 EUR within the framework of the anti-mafia law =.

During this month, SPAK registered 18 criminal proceedings, of which: 7 proceedings for criminal offenses related to organized crime and 11 proceedings for criminal offenses related to corruption.

Regarding the joint investigative teams within the framework of the criminal proceedings under investigation, 6 coordination meetings were held with foreign authorities.

"19 criminal reports were submitted, of which, for 7 reports, it was decided not to start investigations.

18 criminal proceedings were registered, of which: 7 proceedings for criminal offenses related to organized crime and 11 proceedings for criminal offenses related to corruption.

Based on the requests presented by the Special Prosecutor's Office, personal security measures against 20 persons under investigation have been approved by the Special Court.

In the framework of the anti-mafia law, the court issued 1 (one) seizure decision according to which the following were seized:

– 8 real estates.

- 2 bank accounts worth about 259,000 euros.

Within the framework of the Penal Code and the Criminal Code. Criminal, the court gave 1 (one) preventive seizure decision with 2 immovable assets.

45 responses were returned to letters received from various institutions regarding the status of Albanian citizens and public officials in relation to the criminal proceedings against them.

A total of 5 final criminal decisions were executed; of these, all decisions have taken final form in the Special Court of Appeal, where 3 decisions from the Special Court of Appeal have been amended with the relevant notes and 2 have been left in force.

A total of 48 execution orders were issued for 48 convicted persons.

For 2 people the Court has imposed life imprisonment and for 1 (one) person it has established innocence.

For 20 convicts, apart from the measures given with the main punishments, it was ordered according to court decisions and according to article 35 of the Criminal Code, the removal of the right to exercise public functions.

For 3 final criminal decisions, execution orders were issued for the disposal of material evidence, where their confiscation or return was made according to the decision-making of the court.

20 decisions on approving meetings of detainees with their family members and 2 decisions on allowing telephone conversations were revealed and approved by special prosecutors.

Decisions were issued by the prosecutors for the termination of the alternative punishment and sent to the Local Office of the Probation Service where they have their place of residence, for 2 citizens.

6 orders received from foreign justice authorities have been executed, as well as 16 orders have been sent for execution to foreign authorities.

1 (one) Albanian citizen has been declared internationally wanted.

Regarding the joint investigative teams, 6 coordination meetings with foreign authorities were held in the framework of the criminal proceedings in the investigation.

Prosecutors of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime have also participated in 8 Meetings/Trainings/Conferences, within the framework of international cooperation.
